Why We’re Doing This
By ensuring tutors have passed a criminal background check, we protect both learners and tutors from potential risks, fostering a safer, more trustworthy community. In addition, this new policy aligns with best practices & legal requirements in many states.
How It Works
Who Needs a Background Check?
Tutors aged 18 and older must complete a background check after completing the MARS tutor training. Tutors cannot host sessions without completing this step.Automated Process
Background checks will be processed through the Checkr for both domestic and international tutors. Any flagged or failed checks will be manually reviewed by our Foundations Team.Existing Tutors
Background checks for current tutors will be implemented in a future phase. Right now, only new tutors need to complete this process.
Exceptions to the Policy
There are some exceptions to this policy specific to some subworlds depending on the verified affiliation to academic institutions and our partners.
